Last updated: 10 September 2026
This policy explains how Donie Murphy Contracting collects and uses personal data when you contact us or use dmcontracting.ie. Donie Murphy Contracting is the data controller for that information.
Who we are

What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the estimate form on this site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The property address or area the work relates to
- The type of project
- The description of the project you write for us
- Your preferred contact method
We also record the date and time of the submission, and a one-way encrypted (hashed) version of the network address the form was sent from. The hash is used only to limit repeated automated submissions; it cannot be turned back into your address.
If you phone or email us instead, we hold whatever details you choose to give us in that conversation.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, to discuss the work you are planning, to arrange and carry out a site visit, and to prepare and send you a written estimate. If you go ahead with a project, the same details are used to manage and deliver the work and to keep the records we are required to keep.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing.
Legal basis for processing
Where you have asked us for an estimate, our basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and, once a project is agreed, that it is necessary for the performance of that contract (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).
Our basis for keeping limited records for spam prevention and for the security of the site is our legitimate interest in protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f)). Where we are required to retain project or financial records, our basis is compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Analytics cookies are used only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
Where it is stored and who has access
Enquiries are stored in a secure, access-controlled database hosted within the European Union, and a notification email is sent to us so we can reply. Email is delivered through Resend, which acts as our processor for that message. The website itself is hosted by Lovable, our website platform provider, which acts as a processor.
Access is limited to Donie Murphy Contracting and the people working on your project who need it. Where a processor may transfer data outside the European Economic Area, that transfer is covered by safeguards approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us. Where a project goes ahead, we keep the project and financial records for seven years, as required by Irish tax and contractual record-keeping rules. You can ask us to erase your enquiry sooner.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected (rectification)
- Have your data erased where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
To make a request, email info@dmcontracting.ie or write to us at the address above. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, and it is loaded only if you accept analytics cookies. Nothing beyond what is strictly necessary is set unless you agree to it, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Full detail is set out in our Cookie Policy.
